Gallery, an Urban Art Centre

MC3 - Main Street Clay Centre

The Main Street Clay Centre (MSCC) exists to:

  • provide creative opportunities to under-served communities
  • empower our youth through creative expression
  • increase public interest in the arts
  • improve the economic status of artist members

Classes offered at the MSCC help fund community outreach projects allowing those without the means to explore several facets of ceramic artistic expression. We strongly believe that the opportunity for creative expression will provide our community with self confidence, a better appreciation and respect for themselves and others.

Membership with MSCC:

MSCC is equipped with several electric kilns, and pottery wheels of both electric and kick varieties. Our members have 24 hour access to the facility and are encouraged to participate in our member showcases and sales throughout the year. Member shows are subject to a 15% commission of sales which further supports the outreach programming. Memberships are available at $85.00 per month.

Opportunities for teaching are available for MSCC members. Outreach classes and workshops, the prime reason for the MSCC’s existence, are always accepting proposals for new directions in teaching. Our members include BFA graduates who, along with expertise in hand building and wheel throwing can also offer experience with traditional African ceramics techniques to more contemporary practices such as plaster mould creation and use. We welcome and embrace any new and creative ideas.
